TNB supply application for new & upgraded premises

Two routes from site visit to energising, decided by your maximum demand. We handle the contractor route for homes, shoplots and workshops up to 100A — load calculation, wiring to MS IEC 60364, Form G and Form H, myTNB submission, metering and handover. Above 100A we work alongside your consultant engineer on the installation, testing and meter application.

Process guide

Is your load up to 100A?

About 72 kVA on three phase, whole-current metering. Most homes, shoplots, offices and small workshops stay on the contractor route. Large commercial buildings, factories and plants above 100A take the consultant route.

How we work

From load calculation to supply turn-on

STEP 1

Site visit & load calc

List connected load, estimate maximum demand, and pick the application type — new, additional or upgrade; up to 100A or above.

STEP 2

Quote & scope

An itemised quote covering the wiring work, documentation and the TNB application.

STEP 3

Wiring & certificates

Installation to MS IEC 60364. Form G (completion) and Form H (test) issued.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a registered contractor to apply for TNB supply?
For a new house with no TNB account, a renovation that adds load, or a move to three phase: yes. TNB accepts these applications only from an electrical contractor registered with Suruhanjaya Tenaga. Moving into an existing premise with no change in load: no — apply for a change of tenancy or new account on myTNB or at Kedai Tenaga.
What is the 100A line?
A three-phase whole-current supply covers a maximum demand of up to 72 kVA (100A). Above that, an electrical consultant engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia must handle the application, and TNB may need a substation with CT metering.
How long does a TNB supply application take?
TNB’s Customer Charter targets a connection charge statement within 14 days of a complete individual domestic application, and meter installation within 5 working days of deposit payment. Commercial / industrial LV without a substation is typically under 3 months; with a substation, 3 to 12 months. Most delays come from missing documents or wiring that fails inspection.
What do I pay TNB?
Connection charge (based on declared maximum demand, plus cable charges if needed), a deposit of two months of estimated bills, and RM10 stamp duty. These go to TNB and are separate from the contractor’s fee. Homes on the domestic tariff do not pay TNB’s power factor surcharge; non-domestic customers can face a surcharge below 0.85 power factor.
Can you handle the wiring and the TNB application together?
Yes — that is the point of using one contractor on the up-to-100A route. We do the installation to MS IEC 60364, issue Form G and Form H, submit on myTNB, coordinate metering, and are present at energising. Above 100A we work alongside your consultant engineer on installation, testing and the meter application.
